Alan Morgan appointed First Team Manager

Bootle appoint former assistant manager Alan Morgan as the new boss at the Berry Street Garage Stadium, having spent nine months at the club as Mick McGraa’s assistant it’s fair to say Alan is familiar with the club and what the fans expect week in week out.

During Alan’s playing career he featured in the 2000 league cup final as unused substitute for Tranmere Rovers managed by John Aldridge at the time, this was also the last ever league cup final to be played at the old Wembley. He also featured for Doncaster Rovers, Morecambe, Altrincham, Porthmadog, Rhyl, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Bangor City and Cefn Druids as a player-manager.

As an assistant manager Alan has had spells with Connah’s Quay, Bangor City, Vauxhall Motors, Marine, Southport under Jim Bentley and Tranmere under 18s where he would then become the manager. In November 2009 he was appointed manager of his hometown team Aberystwyth Town where spent two and a half years, however his greatest feat in his managerial career as of yet would be reaching the Europa League play off spots with Llandudno in his first season as the gaffer and competing with Welsh Premier League giants such as TNS, Bangor City and Bala Town despite having little budget to do so. Alan also spent nearly a year as the manager of Colwyn Bay and his most recent managerial role was Tranmere under 18s.

Alongside his work across the Welsh pyramid and as an Assistant Manager in the National League system, Morgan also works as Player Development Manager for Tranmere Rovers, working closely with the First Team who play in Sky Bet League Two.

Everyone at Bootle Football Club would like to welcome back Alan Morgan to the club and wish him the best of luck during his time here.
