The Bucks have completed the signing of defender Jonny Spittle, Spittle left Marine in April and was a free agent before The Bucks sealed the deal.

Spittle’s CV offers plenty of experience to bring with him to Bootle FC having a taste of European football during his time at Bala Town, in which he played 5 European games including a very historic match against Valletta in which Spittle played a full 90 minutes, helping Maes Tegid advance to the Second Qualifying Round of the Europa League for the first time in the club’s history.

Spittle’s career path across the last 10 years is predominantly consisted of playing for other Welsh sides such as Airbus UK, Llandudno FC, Aberystwyth Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads.

In his early career days he featured for numerous football league clubs such as Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale before crossing over to Wales.

Spittle’s experience will be a great addition to Mick McGraa’s squad heading into the new season.

“I can’t wait to get going and I’m looking forward to the season now.” Spittle said in an interview with Bucks TV this evening.

“I’ve got a couple of mates who are here such as Michael Carberry and Sean Smith, they spoke highly of the club and told me it’s well ran.”

We also asked Jonny about his ambitions for next season and he sounded very optimistic.

“From the outside looking in, the lads came very close to promotion last season. Ideally the ambition would be to go one better and get promoted but it’s got be play offs minimum, that’s the aim.”
