Bucks mauled by Bears

Bootle’s bad run continues after a second home defeat in four days as Congleton Town walk away from The Berry Street Garage Stadium with a 2-0 victory over The Bucks.

After nine minutes from kick off there were some shouts from the Bootle players after an alleged handball in the Congleton Town area but the referee didn’t concur. Minutes later Lewis Reilly had a free shot on the edge of the box but his effort only went over the bar.

Andy Scarisbrick attempted an overhead kick towards the Congleton Town goal but the shot fell just inches wide. Lewis Reilly’s shot fell straight to the visiting keeper David Parton but lost his grip on the ball as it almost crawled into the back of the net but recovered it from reaching any danger.

Just on the stroke of half time, Max McCarthy latched onto a through ball from Lewis Porter and took his opportunity with both hands as he put The Bears a goal ahead.

Seven minutes into the first half Conor Harwood found the back of the net and it looked as though The Bucks were back in the game, but the referee cancelled out the equaliser after a foul on David Parton.

Only a few minutes later the referee disallowed another equaliser for The Bucks, only on this occasion a more questionable decision after David Parton appeared to misplace his timings on punching the ball away and lost his balance which led to Conor Harwood again capitalised on the error and put the ball in the back of the net, but rather than a goal awarded to Bootle, the referee gave the visitors a free kick.

In the 66th minute substitute George Sankey came off the bench to contribute to Congleton Town’s second goal as he made a brilliant overlapping run and put the ball across to Daniel Needham who’s first time effort doubled their lead, deflating Bootle trailing 2-0 at home.

Congleton Town held onto their 2-0 lead in a very impressive victory away from home on a wet Tuesday night on Merseyside. They dealt with everything Bootle threw at them and deserved the win.

Meanwhile Bootle are currently second from bottom of the league form guide only collecting three points in six games.
