Match Preview: Vauxhall Motors (A)

Bootle open the new year with an away fixture to the gaffer Mick McGraa’s former club Vauxhall Motors, who are currently sitting third in the league with 43 points.

By Brendan Doyle

Bootle ended the year 2024 with a 1-0 loss to Runcorn Linnets, the 2024/25 campaign in general hasn’t been great for The Bucks having only gained 30 points in 24 games. A win today would be a good way to start turning things around for Bootle and a very positive start for 2025.

It’s been a thriving season so for The Motormen, as mentioned they sit third in the table and are just three points off top of the table. The last time the two sides played each other was in August on a bank holiday Monday which seen Vauxhall Motors win 6-3 after being 3-0 down, so they have every right to believe that today could be a comfortable home win.

Bootle come into the game following some off-the-field changes, as Dave Miley has stepped down as chairman to become Director of Football Operations, working closely with First Team Manager, Mick McGraa, and Joe Doran will return to the club as Club Chairman. The Bucks will look to start this new senior management era with a win to lead nicely into the New Year.
