Bootle got off to a good start creating chances down the left hand side with a good link between Sean Williams, Kenzie O’Neil and Sean Smith. A chance fell to Sean Williams off a rebound which Williams struck with a first time from close range hit but Chasetown keeper Curtis Pond got a hand to it.

Sean Williams played a fantastic through ball to Andy Scarisbrick who was seemingly brought down in the area and shouted for a penalty but the referee disagreed and carried play on. Bootle eventually found an opener in the 39th minute as Ben Hodkinson buried his effort past Curtis Pond to put The Bucks 1-0 ahead in the later stages of the first half.

The first half ended 1-0 to Bootle with a very comfortable performance and Bootle keeper Tony Thompson had almost nothing to do in terms of keeping out shots from Chasetown.

Three minutes into the second half Chasetown skipper Danny Glover had a chance from just outside the six yard box after the ball fell to the forward from a corner but he blazed his effort over the bar, a huge let off for Bootle. Up at the other end Hodkinson looked to double his own and Bootle’s goal tally as he hit the ball on the volley towards the Dodge Kop but his chance went way wide.

Chasetown grew confidence and possession since kick off in three second half and eventually their efforts paid off as substitute Joe Buckley brought the scoreline to 1-1 with a screamer that flew into the top left corner just five minutes after coming on.

Bootle responded well just a few minutes after conceding when Sean Williams took a corner which took a touch off a Chasetown defender and the ball crossed the line to give Bootle the lead, a stroke of luck but they all count.

Chasetown once again grew strong in the later stages of the game and were hunting for the equaliser which in the 88th minute they got. Another substitute found the net and this time it was by way of Alfie Taylor.

The scoreline finished 2-2 and Bootle sit 13th.
